Al George Memorial Scholarship

A key part of our network's mission is to empower the credit union movement's current (and future) leaders by supporting continuing education opportunities in the credit union space. Whether you are looking to attend an educational session (including webinar) or are seeking a scholarship (or partial scholarship) for industry conference attendance (such as REACH or GAC), WCMS or other opportunities, the San Diego / Imperial Network is proud to honor credit union champion, Alvin George, through the Al George Memorial Scholarship.
Alvin George was a pivotal figure in the credit union movement, known for his extensive volunteer service and leadership roles. His contributions to the credit union community were recognized with the J. Alvin George Outstanding Volunteer Award, where George's legacy continues through this award, which was renamed in 2013 to honor his long-time credit union volunteerism, which honors significant contributions by people who serve credit unions in volunteer capacities. His dedication to the credit union movement and his commitment to building stronger communities and improving members' lives through various actions such as financial education, wellness, social responsibility, mentorship, and diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, are celebrated in the awards program of California's Credit Unions.
